Fishing boat off Tungku

Taken off Tungku. They were just cruising along the beach, perhspa looking for a good spot to unload.

I was watching them cruise left and right, and left and right again between the rocks, until they disappeared.

Lady in red

Love the idea of this lady in red wading all the way across that water to fish. Cool man.

This was in Serasa. Serasa is very good nowadays. Very nice crowd. Bloody good for cuci mata. many many people just hanging around there next to their cars just seeing and being seen. Nice.

On the way to Miri

Regular travellers to Miri would recognise this tree. A tall bare tree next to the road. All by its lonesome. Violet and i rushed to take this pic. Couldnt believe we thought about it at the same time. She was driving, i was napping but when she stopped the car, i knew instinctively what she wanted to do. hahaha. Hey Violet, its been a month and u havent put your tree up yet, so....

The river

Another view by the Belait river.

I remember my geography lessons all those years ago. That all towns and cities grow by a river. Our ancestors commute by boats and thats why towns and communities all develop next to a waterway. Brunei is the same.

Belait River

We went along the Belait River while we were in KB. Not much to see there. The river is kinda dirty and brownish but it looks safe. No buaya in sight. Saw some men practicing their dragon boat routine..maybe practicing for the Hari Keputeraan boat race in July.

Saw these 2 ships moored there. Beautiful. Not sure i captured that beauty. Maybe Violets pics are better. I'll ask her to put it up here..

Fish farm

On the way to Batu Marang the other day, Violet got the idea to stop at this little fish farm somewhere along Jalan Kota Batu.

Normally they'd let you do a spot of fishing there, but as the weathers not so good lately, they stopped that for a bit. I dont understand what the lady was saying actually.

The place was a bit messy and it looks like they have a small maintenance budget, but the setting was actually good for a few pics. Especially with the very clear pools and the coconut trees.

We promised to come back to do some fishing next month. We'll see...

Kg Batu Marang

These are the pictures from our outing to Kg Batu Marang Friday evening. The place is a photographers heaven. Beautiful. I'm using my standard 18-135mm kit lens and Violets using her Sigma 10-20mm. A few things about the scene ; Its late afternoon about 6pm, it was very low tide, the peope were lovely and helpful, and the clouds, well, what can i say, the clouds were amazingly thick in some parts but almost none in others.

Everybody should do an outing to Kg Batu Marang. Seriously. When we were there, everybody greeted us. And they were soo helpful and friendly. Some took their pics with us. Enjoy the pics...

Like we said, do an outing to Kg Batu Marang!!

Greenery

Does anyone realise how green own town centre is? Beautiful huh. I love the flowers and the plants along the roadside. Kudos to the authorities for maintaining BSB as a green city. I think bloggers should highlight the greenery in BSB in their blogs.

I just can't quite figure out what the traffic cone is doing in the middle of the woods..

The mosque

Masjid jame' Asr Assanil Bolkiah. The second most photogrqaphed site in Brunei i guess. And why not? Its a beautiful structure and the Gardens are simply grand. You can take your camera here and plan to spend hours and i can bet you still wont be satisfied. You'd wana come back again.

Pity the view is now starting to be obstructed by the growing trees along the highway..

Bahtera

I used Violet's 10mm to get this shot. Damn i love this lens. I need to get one of my own!!

The clouds were very accomodating. We're having really great cloud formations nowadays. Also some really strange ones...

Batu Marang @Midnight

This was taken at just after midnight, a few months back. Was sitting around with some friends, enjoying the calmness of the night. Its beautiful and sooo calm there. Disappointed at not bringing a tripod, but managed to get a few shots off with the aid of some support. I like the outcome.

Violet.

beavers again

Those beavers again. They look fierce. And they made these fierce sounding sounds. I think they were more curious about these two people than anything.

Taman Jubli Perak

A pic of the Taman Jubilee monument thingy in Bandar. Its a nice recreation park nowadays, but rarely used. Only as part of major celebrations.

Violet's pic this. Nice.

beavers

Pics from our journey yesterday. We were somewhere along Jagsak/sengkurong and we happen to come across this pond. Then out popped these pair of beavers. hahaha. Cute ler. Then out popped some more. There were maybe half a dozen playing in the pool. They were as curious about us as we were about them.

Imagine seeing beavers out in the 'wild'. We normally see them in the zoo or in movies..

the view form my eyes only

Violet's photo. Taken with her brand new, masih panas, Sigma 10-20mm lens. Looks good huh. On 10mm, the pictures are dramatic and beautiful. I havent seen the SOAS mosque taken like this before.

We went on our walkabout again yesterday afternoon, after so long being confined because of the weather.

Waterfront1

Wandering aimlessly with Violet the other day. Took the camera along. We seem to be taking the cameras along everywhere nowadays. Took this pic. I left it untouched save for the basic crop. It turned out interesting.

We were wondering when are we going to have a decent waterfront, that we all can enjoy and relax and eat and lepak in. We already have the scenery..

Masjid

A few weeks ago we went to Belait, stopping at Sungai teraban across from the Bridge. Theres a good size community living in the area. And theres a mosque for residents. Its nice and white. The area around it is overgrown tho.

We Bruneians rarely travel much in our own country. We should change that.
